How to Check Your Version and Update Safely
Open Beatredwar. That’s step one. No shortcuts.

Click Help in the top menu. Not Settings. Not File.
Help.
Then click About Beatredwar.
There it is (your) version number, plain and bold.
What Version Is Beatredwar On? You’ll see it right there: v2.4.1 or whatever you’re running. If it looks like v1.9.0, you’re way behind.
Now update. Automatic updates are on by default. But I turn them off.
Too many times I’ve seen auto-updates break mod compatibility.
So I update manually. Go to Help > Check for Updates. If it says “Update Available”, click it.
Wait. Don’t walk away. Don’t open Discord.
It downloads. Then it asks to restart. Say yes.
Let it restart cleanly. Don’t force-quit mid-update (that’s) how you get a corrupted install.

Beatredwar’s Version Timeline: What Changed, What’s Coming
I checked the changelogs. Twice.
Version 1.8 added mod support and fixed the crash when loading custom maps. (Yes, that one.)
Version 1.9 shipped the new matchmaking backend. It’s faster, but still drops you mid-round sometimes. I’m not sure why.
Then came 2.0. That was the big jump. Full controller rebinds, cross-platform saves, and offline practice mode.
Beatredwar uses standard semantic versioning: Major.Minor.Patch. So 2.0 means breaking changes. 2.1 means new features without breaking anything. 2.1.3? Just bug fixes.
